THE STORY OF THIS GAME

(Please forgive my poor English. XD)

In August 2013, I quit my job when I was 26, hoping create a mobile game. However, a serious problem stood in front of me: Ive never done any work related to game. I have just played game. I dont know anything about programming, art, and planning. I am a pure outsider. What I have is only an idea.

Is it possible for a person never involved in developing a game to create an innovative game? How long will it take?

In the following 8 months, I learned game design by myself. Then, a studio was set up with the support of two classmates. At that time there was a joke in Chinas Internet industry that "everything is ready but a programmer". It seemed to mean me. I started from knowing nothing, from a joke to create an original game.

In March 2014, I published an article "How the Sentence "Everything is ready but a programmer" Is Unreliable?"", due to which I was encouraged by some people. In April, I found a programmer, a college student, who was willing to make the game with me. We officially started to make the game. That was just the beginning of a nightmare.

In October 2014, I published the second article "How An Outsider of Mobile Game Breaks Out in One of Ten Thousand Innovation Roads (I)”. One reader’s comment impressed me. He said: "To say as you like when you earn money enough to balance receipts and payment. Before this, how does it make sense to write these things? You will know what difficulties and hardships are when you experience enough. These are not worth mentioning, and not worth mentioning to others." In December, the game was scheduled to be launched online, but there were still a lot of problems. The key was that the game had deviated from the original idea: to make a simple innovative game. In this version we added too many other elements which complicated it and made it difficult to play. So we had to make a difficult decision: start again.

In order to learn how to make a simple game, we tried to make four small and simple games, in which "Cat to moon" was luckily recommend in two categories of trivia game and family game in APP STORE, which encouraged us. We were determined to simplify that game.

In May 2015, the redesigned game started to be made. Due to too much time spent, we did not have any money and investors, and the programmers had to work while study at school, as a result, the game production progress was very slow.

Now, the game is able to be launched online at the end. Reviewing the past, it may take a month or two for others to make a game, but take two and a half years for me. It may be just like a joke. However, I will insist, and continue to innovate, to make better works. Suggestions are always welcomed.
